Deputy Reserve Unit
Sgt. Paul Viner currently heads the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Reserve Deputy Unit. The purpose of this volunteer unit is to serve the citizens of Saline County through the SCSO.
There are approximately 27 Reserves currently serving at the SCSO. These exceptional citizens, both male and female, volunteer their time to patrol, assist in jail operations, conduct search and rescue, serve civil papers and offer security for events in Saline County.
Each reserve deputy is required to attend a minimum 120-hour class on law enforcement, before they can even begin to train with the full-time deputies. They are required to attend monthly meetings and must work a minimum of 16 hours per month to maintain active status. Periodic training and classes are also required.
If you would like to join the SCSO Reserve Deputy Unit, please contact Sgt. Viner.
