||||
On Friday afternoon, the Saline County 911 Communication Center received a call from a hunter who stated that he had observed bones which were not consistent with an animal carcass in the bed of the Saline River north of Highway 291 near the Tull Bridge. Deputies responded and observed what appeared to human skeletal remains. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) was immediately notified and responded to the scene. The area was cordoned off and a methodical and systematic search was conducted by detectives. Approximately 85% of a human skeleton was recovered. CID detectives believe that the remains were that of an adult male. CID detectives did not believe the bones that were recovered showed signs of trauma. It appears that the remains were exposed to the elements for over 1 year. The scene was secured at approximately 7:30 pm. The remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock. Since this discovery, CID detectives have been researching missing person’s reports dating back 2 years. Items recovered during the search may assist in positively identifying the victim. Once a report is completed by the Medical Examiner’s Office, additional information will be released by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). Citizens who may have information about this incident are urged to contact the SCSO at 501-303-5609 (main number) or 501-303-5144 (crime tip hotline).
