The Narcotics Unit of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office is under the supervision of Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Lieutenant Ronald Parsons. Combating the manufacture and distribution of narcotics is a top priority for Sheriff Rodney Wright.
The following are examples of crimes investigated by the Narcotics Unit:
- Drug distribution
- Drug possession
- Money laundering
- The diversion of controlled pharmaceutical drugs
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has assigned a detective to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force in Little Rock. The detective assigned to the DEA Task Force not only investigates drug networks operating in Saline County, but also surrounding counties.
Two Saline County Sheriff’s Office CID detectives are assigned to a Special Investigation Unit (SIU), which is partnered with the Benton Police Department. The SIU has been very successful in making felony arrests, seizing various amounts and types of controlled substances and confiscating drug assets. More importantly, there has been an increase in convictions for drug related offenses. Saline County Sheriff’s Office CID detectives, as well as patrol deputies, have received additional training in drug related crimes.
